Redefining Legacy and Empowerment: Confinity at Women Techmakers Uyo 2025
"What happens to our digital memories when we're gone?"
This question resonated throughout the room as I addressed over 200 women at the Women Techmakers Uyo event on April 12th. Representing Confinity as both a Product Manager and Women Techmakers Ambassador, I found myself at the intersection of two powerful missions: empowering women in tech and preserving human legacies.
This year's theme, "Redefine Possible," couldn't have been more fitting. As AI transforms our world, the message challenged us to break old limits, seeing emerging technology not as some distant concept but as a practical tool for solving deeply human problems.
The vibrant atmosphere at the venue, Cafe One, created a perfect backdrop for meaningful connections. Women from various tech backgrounds, alongside a few supportive men, gathered in what truly felt like a sisterhood united by purpose.
The Heart of Confinity
"Everyone has a story worth preserving."
This belief drives everything we do at Confinity, making this audience of storytellers and innovators the perfect community to introduce our memory and legacy preservation platform.
We supported the event as a sponsor. Beyond that, we made sure to educate attendees about our platform and onboard early users, and the response was immediate. The concept of documenting digital footprints for future generations resonated deeply; many attendees were genuinely excited when they heard about Confinity, expressing that they'd been searching for exactly this solution.

Confinity was born from our founder Ryan's personal journey. After watching his mother battle cancer, he confronted a universal truth: while we live digital lives, our most meaningful memories remain scattered, vulnerable to being lost forever. Our platform creates a secure space where life stories, wishes, and legacies can be captured authentically, not just as curated highlights.
What makes it even more special is that Ryan’s mother is still with us today. And she now has peace of mind knowing she has a secure, meaningful space where her life stories can be captured, shared, and passed down.
That part always hits home for me. It reminds us that legacy isn’t just about what’s left behind, it’s also about the comfort of knowing your voice won’t be lost.
In a world where media constantly reshapes narratives, Confinity empowers people to preserve their stories in their own voice, a mission that struck a chord with the Women Techmakers audience.

Creating Lasting Connections
The Q&A session revealed the hunger for this solution. Attendees asked about preserving memories, building digital wills, creating family trees, and forming communities on the platform. Using the QR code from my presentation, between 20-40 people signed up immediately.
The social media buzz following the event marked a significant milestone: our first awareness campaign in Africa. Posts about Confinity appeared across X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn, extending our reach beyond the physical event and posts on our Cherish app.
Standing on that stage represented many firsts: my first official speaking engagement at Women Techmakers, Confinity's first large-scale presentation, and our first physical campaign. The convergence of these moments made clear that we weren't just talking about redefining possible, we were actively doing it.

Charting New Territories
This momentum propels us forward. Phase 2 of the platform will introduce heritage-driven features that help people document their lives, cultures, and family histories with unprecedented depth.
We're cultivating strategic partnerships and growing a community of early adopters who share our vision. With our crowdfunding page going live, we're focused on creating a seamless experience from onboarding to intergenerational sharing.
At Confinity, we're preserving humanity's stories, and we're just getting started.
